From Hand Tools and Family Projects to Custom Homes

I began my building career working alongside my father around the house—fixing things, building forts, and even bunk beds. Later, I worked with my grandfather in West Texas erecting pole barns and old ship-lap grain bins. He didn’t believe in power tools, so we worked with hand saws and hand bits, setting telephone poles with block and tackle and an old John Deere Poppin’ Johnny.

While in high school, I studied drafting and worked at an engineering firm performing red-line corrections and operating the blue-line machine. After high school I worked as a carpenter’s helper for a fire and water restoration company before moving into framing and trim carpentry.

I attended Texas State University and graduated with a BBA in Economics. To help pay for school, I worked for a paint contractor on high-end custom homes and learned every facet of the trade.

After graduating, I found the job market scarce and started my own paint contracting business. I completed a number of notable projects in New Braunfels, including Scores Sports Bar, Downtown Antique Mall, Seekats Opera House, Tri-City Electric, and Myron’s Steakhouse. While painting, I began taking on small remodel projects that allowed me to apply my earlier framing and trim experience. This led me away from pure paint contracting and into remodeling—projects that ranged from stripping a duplex down to the studs and rebuilding it to commercial finish-outs.

That progression naturally led to my goal of building custom homes, which is what I have the pleasure of doing now.

I’ve always had a desire to build and make things look beautiful, and the time spent working with my father and grandfather fostered a deep appreciation for traditional building methods, architecture, and finishes. Taking all of my experience and aesthetic sense, I look to pour that into traditional, quality, and innovative custom homes.

Whether you’re looking for a classic design or something more innovative, my goal is to deliver a home that is both beautifully crafted and built to last.
